A Texas councilman was publicly censured for sending a racist email to other city officials, including the mayor and police chief.
Councilman Tony Butler sent an e-mail about the names of hurricanes to three city officials. The email was sent through the city's email system.
"Well it appears our African-American friends have found yet something else to be (expletive) about," the e-mail read. "A black congresswoman (Sheila Jackson Lee) complained the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian-sounding names. She would prefer some names that reflect the African-American culture." ()
Why is it that White public officials are not held accountable and to the same degree as African-American or other minority officials?

In this vid, rap artist Da Brat, actor/director Malcolm Jamal-Warner, and WNBA star Nakia Sanford discussing the history and use of this word.

A college trustee gets heat from dropping the N-word during a meeting. Ralph Papitto dropped the N-word as he and other trustees discussed ways to get more minority members on the board. Students and at least one official want Papitto's name stripped from the law school, even though he has donated over $7 million.
